Our Company History

Ken Underwood is owner of several small businesses including The University of Online Education, Inc. and 1-800-Pay-By-Phone, Inc. This year Ken retired from the Naval Reserves where he served as a pilot and has received numerous awards including the Navy Achievement Medal for outstanding performance as Commander of a Special Project Combat Aircrew. Ken also recently retired as a pilot for American Airlines where he earned his International Captain's rating for both the 767 and 757 aircraft and was hand-selected to fly President Bush and Governor Bush on an overseas assignment. He was recently nominated by the Florida Speaker of the House and the Florida Commissioner of Education to serve on the Board of Trustees for the University of North Florida. Additionally, he serves on the advisory committee for Seamark Ranch, Inc., a non-denominational children's home for abused, neglected, abandoned, and homeless children . Ken graduated cum laude from Jacksonville University in 1981 with a BS degree in marketing, management, and economics.

In July 1994, Ken started a driver education company in Jacksonville. Within two years it was the largest driver education company in the country with over 150 locations. By 1997, the school was graduating over 100,000 students a year and in 1999, following a featured article in the Wall Street Journal, Ken sold the business to a group of investors led by Ford Motor Company and J.P. Morgan Chase and Company. In the Summer of 2003, Ken completed his non-compete agreement and re-entered the Driver Education Industry with TestQuestionsAndAnswers.com and LowestPriceTrafficSchool.com.
